While the gift boxes and plates were scooped up in a matter of hours, we do still have all the Gilda ingredients needed to make your own gift, as well as a selection of other gift items, for your holiday gift giving needs. That's using the word gift a lot for one sentence, but I'm going to leave it in.

The preeminent pintxo at the heart of Donostia Foods, festively packaged with a one-of-a-kind, handcrafted pintxo plate. All that you need to serve the classic Gilda on a piece of art, straight out of the box. You'll have to provide the wine. Ships for free.

Please add your email address to the notification list via the tab above; we won’t have the gift boxes back in time for Christmas, but we’ll certainly have more of Susan’s plates available next year!

Each plate is individually handcrafted from stoneware clay by Chicago-based artist Susan Volk. The process begins with thrown slabs of clay that are cut, shaped, sanded and hand-painted with glaze to create holdable works of art. Every plate is signed by the artist on the back of the plate. Dishwasher and microwave safe.

GIFT-GIVERS ACTED QUICKLY. ALL SOLD OUT.

Each gift box includes one of these unique, handmade pintxo plates. The photos are a selection of what might be included in your gift box; we can't guarantee exactly which plate you will receive, only that it'll be beautiful. Surprise adds to the joy. The full contents are listed below.

"I wanted these pieces to reflect the sense of place and culture that the food comes from - abstract vignettes of exploring seasides, the richness of old world stone buildings, the warm glow of candlelight on the table charming glasses of hearty red wine - and all of these experiences around the table being shared. They say "you eat with your eyes first" so I hope with these plates I can bring the feeling of adventuring, storytelling, celebrating, and coming home to the table." - Artist Susan Volk, who made these exquisite plates (two of which I will be keeping for myself, which is why we only have ten. Sorry.)

The list of everything included, and how it's presented:

  • one handcrafted, stoneware pintxo plate (approx. 6.5 inches in diameter); each plate is unique and the exact design in each box is a surprise. Dishwasher and microwave safe.
  • one jar each of Donostia Foods Cantabrian anchovies, guindilla peppers, and pitted manzanilla olives.
  • one bottle of Donostia Foods Extra Virgin Olive Oil, for drizzling, should you like.
  • one Gilda notecard, explaining the significance of the subtly spicy bite.
  • one artist's bio notecard, about Susan and her process.
  • Inside, everything is packaged meticulously to protect each part, the items in bubble bags and wrapped white tissue paper, with a bit of crinkle paper for fill.
  • Outside, the box is a subtly glossy white, hand stamped with the Donostia Foods logo, with velvet ribbon and bow.

Want a gift message included? Just enter what you'd like written in the "order notes" field in your cart and we'll include a hand-written gift note (with the best penmanship we can muster).
